Stop comparing. Start living.
Do you have this little voice in your head that discourages you from doing what you love?
For example, “I feel like going for a run. Yes. I’ll get up and do that tomorrow morning.”
Then that little voice says, “but you look stupid when you run.” Or maybe, “your butt wobbles when you run. What will people think?”
So instead of getting up for a run in the morning, you lay in bed criticising your Body and yourself for being fat, lazy and every in-between.
Hands up. Who’s been there? Or maybe you’re still there.
Well, maybe not about going for a run. Maybe your “doing what you love” thing is swimming or painting or dancing or whatever makes you feel amazing and alive!
Yep. My hand is up too. Especially around running in public.
My running is more of a shuffle. My butt and thighs wobble. My face goes bright red and have sweat dripping from under my arms. And I probably sound like a steam train with my heavy breathing.
So yes, I have discouraged myself from running. Worrying about what people think because … because that’s the way I’ve been programmed.
But, here’s the thing.
If I continue down this path of worrying about what others think or worrying about what I look like, I will never do what I love.
Or more importantly, what my Body is calling for, that is my Soul-Truth.
So, I choose to love myself, especially all those parts of me that feel unworthy, not good enough, inadequate and hopeless.
When we love these parts of ourselves, we no longer care what others think because we no longer feel incomplete or unlovable or hopeless or whatever it is we feel.
When we stop comparing ourselves to others, we start connecting in with who we TRULY are.
When we stop worrying about what others think, we are empowering ourselves to live our LIFE from Soul-Truth (our authentic intuitive free true Self).
I’ll be honest with you. This Self-Love journey is not easy. The reprogramming takes time. It takes daily practice.
It takes loads of courage, love, compassion, self-awareness and gentleness. All aimed at ourselves and our Body.
But, I can tell you, it will work. And, all that practice is so damn worth it!
Why? Because it will change how you feel from the inside out. And it is amazing!!
If you’re reading this going “Yep. That is me”, then I offer you some tips on how to get off this “self-criticising-discouraging-no-good-enough“ cycle.
I want to help you get on the Self-Love-Encourage-Yourself train and LIVE your LIFE the way yearn to.
Give these a go and feel into how your Body responds:
- Every morning, commit to deepen into Self-Live and treat yourself with Love and Compassion.
- When you find yourself criticising yourself, stop. Take a breath. Forgive yourself. Place your hands on your Body. Say something to yourself that is filled with Love, Compassion and encouragement.
- When you find yourself judging another, stop. Take a breath. Forgive yourself. Send love to that person with some kind words. Then lean into that part of you that feels inadequate/unlovable/not good enough and embrace it with love and compassion. Bring yourself into wholeness.
- Make a commitment to listen to the Truth of your Body; to your Soul-Truth. Get curious about what makes you feel alive. And yes, sometimes these things will take you out of your comfort zone. But do it anyway.
- Stop comparing yourself to others. Start focusing on your life and LOVE who you are. If you feel out of alignment with your Truth, ask yourself “what do I need to feel aligned with my Soul-Truth?” And let your Body’s innate wisdom guide you.
- And most importantly, keep doing what you LOVE. Keep doing what makes your HEART sing and your whole Body feel ALIVE.
I truly hope these tips support you on your Life’s journey. I hope they help you to deepen into Self-Love and cultivate a loving compassionate relationship with your whole Body. I hope they help you to encourage yourself to do what you LOVE.
Wishing you an amazing week.
Jane
Ps inspiration for this blog came to me whilst I was on my run. It’s amazing what happens when you say “Yes” to yourself and do what you LOVE.
