Self-Compassion. A scientifically proven way of being that supports your health and wellbeing.

Self-Criticism activates the fight/flight/freeze nervous system (SNS). Why? Because self-criticism can be experienced as an attack in the Body.
I know, it doesn’t feel nice does it. I don’t think we want to attack ourselves. Our True nature is Love and Compassion. And when we come face to face with our behaviour, it can be hard to face.
Personally, I’ve experienced a lot of shame around how I’ve treated myself over the years. Self-Forgiveness has helped me move through this and in turn has opened me up to Self-Compassion.

Criticising yourself does not make you a bad person. We criticise ourselves for many different reasons. One being – we were taught this behaviour. And you have the power to change it – if you want to.
Please don’t criticise yourself for criticising yourself.
Back to the research.
The Body is in stress. And if you always criticise yourself, then your Body will always be in stress. And as we know, chronic stress is not good for the health of our Body. Depression. Anxiety. Digestive issues. Immune issues. Weight issues. Lots of issues.
Here’s how Self-Compassion helps.
Self-Compassion triggers the care-giving system, that deactivates the SNS and activates the rest and digest nervous system (PNS). This system helps to bring balance back to your Body. The digestive system and immune system come back on line. Your ability to make conscious decisions becomes easier.
Your Body can thrive. Your cells are happy and growing. Your innate life force flows freely. You can cope better when things get tough.
And this is only touching the surface of the research.
On a personal note, I believe Self-Compassion has helped my bouts of depression and anxiety to lessen. Yes, this outcome is also in the research.
