In 2015 I said “Yes’ to participating in a mountain bike (MTB) beginner’s course through SheRides.

Having wanted to learn MTB riding for a while and not enjoying the “just lean back and ride down the hill” lessons from my hubby, I was excited when the SheRides ad came across my Facebook feed.

I love my hubby dearly and he is awesome at supporting me in all things mountain biking (and so much more), but he didn’t get the “frozen in fear” bit so it was hard to ride together.

Learning with a group of women who get it makes a world of difference.

At first I wasn’t sure whether the course was for me. Should I? Shouldn’t I? Is this Truth for me? So much uncertainty.

At this time I was going through some intense bouts of anxiety and depression. Making decisions was difficult. Socialising with new people was difficult. Everything seemed so damn difficult.

In the end I got brave and said “Yes”.  At times during the 8 week course I wanted to run (or ride) away. I questioned whether I was meant to continue quite a few times. But I stayed. And the following year I did the intermediate course. I fell in love with mountain bike riding.

2 years on, I sit here and look back in deep gratitude.  Saying “Yes” to this one MTB course opened my life up to so many opportunities.

From this “Yes”, I have met new friends and I learnt MTB techniques that have given me the confidence to keep riding.

This same “Yes” gave me the confidence to take my boys riding. And now when my hubby and I ride together we have a lot more fun!  I love that we all ride together as a family – it makes my heart sing.

And I love that I have a group of amazing women who I can ride with too!! So much fun and JOY!

And still the magic of this one “Yes” continues to flow.

Last December I met two women whilst MTB riding who worked out of a wellness studio near where I live.  They encouraged me to run meditation there.

So I said yes to that idea, and in a couple of weeks I will be running my first Bodymastery Meditation out of this studio.

I’m super excited not just for my meditation class but also for meeting the amazing women who work and play there.

I now go there for reflexology and massage (something my body really needed).

And just yesterday I started Tribal Dance classes which I absolutely love. And yes, I had to embrace my fear and step out of my comfort zone to do this too.  (Another quick sidenote … this studio is filled with amazing classes and services.  Click here to check out the Astarte Mind & Body studio.)

I just love how this one “Yes” back in 2015 opened me up to the magic of Life.  All because I chose to embrace fear with Love.

Fear has taught me so much. Sometimes fear is there because it’s absolutely necessary to keep you safe.  And sometimes it’s there because it’s helping you build the courage to take that one step to follow your heart and do what you truly Love.

Become friends with your fear so you can discern what your Truth is. That one courageous “Yes” may be what opens you up to the magic of Life.

And at times, a very clear “No” is needed when the Fear is guiding you away from what is not serving your life.

Follow your Heart. Live your Soul-Truth.  And embrace that dear friend “Fear” with Love.  Open to the magic of Life.
